fresh 48 & family Photographer

Hi, I'm Kailey. I'm based in Salt Lake County, and I've been doing this for about two years now, which isn't a long time, but it's long enough to know exactly why I do it.


Here's the honest version: I had a Fresh 48 session scheduled for my own baby. My photographer cancelled on me. By the time I left the hospital, that window was gone, and it's never coming back. I didn't get those hours. I think about that more than I probably should, and it's the whole reason I show up the way I do now.

My approach

 

A session with me isn't stiff. I'm not lining your family up and counting to three. I'll help you plan outfits so you're not standing in your closet at midnight stressed about it, I offer hair and makeup if you want to feel extra put together, and I tell genuinely bad jokes until someone finally laughs, usually your husband, who I promise is not doing anything wrong even if he thinks he is.


I'm a mom too. I know what it's like to be the one always holding the camera, never in the photo, and then looking back years later wondering why you're missing from your own family's story. I've photographed over 200 families at this point, and here's something I've noticed: the families who almost cancelled on me, because life felt too chaotic, too hard, not the "right" time, are almost always the ones who end up the most grateful they didn't.

 

 

Here's the thing I wish more people knew about working with me: I'll show up even when it doesn't feel like the right time. Even on the hard days. Especially then, honestly. This season doesn't wait for things to calm down first, and neither do I.
